'Grapes are sour': Javeria Saud hits back at Fazila Qazi over Ramadan remarks
Pakistani actress Javeria Saud hit back at Fazila Qazi after the veteran star mocked Ramadan transmissions, saying, “the devil has become the host.”
Javeria fired a sharp response, claiming Fazila’s remarks stem from jealousy over never having hosted a show herself, sparking a heated debate on social media.
Javeria saying: “She hasn’t gotten the opportunity to host any show, so she’s acting bitter and saying that the grapes are sour.”
The controversy began after Fazila Qazi’s comments about Ramadan TV transmissions went viral online.
In a satirical remark, Fazila said, “In Pakistan, the devil hasn’t been locked up; instead, he has become the host of Ramadan transmissions,” criticising what she described as the sensational and commercialized nature of some Ramadan programs.
Fazila further questioned regulatory oversight, asking, “Where is PEMRA? What kind of things are being said in Ramadan transmissions… we cross all limits for ratings!”
Her outspoken views sparked a heated debate online, with fans divided over the growing trend of flashy, entertainment-driven content during the holy month.
Some agreed with the actress, saying: “These shows should be banned. Sadly, why is no one raising their voice? This is not the teaching of Islam. Ramadan used to be very sacred, and now what has it become? People no longer respect Allah.”
Another added: “Absolutely correct. Very disappointed. What are they showing on these channels? Shameful. These channels represent our culture and values. Why are they presenting everything so dramatically, which is not even true?”
On the other hand, some criticized Fazila, saying: “Fazila, who are you to point fingers at anyone’s work? If you had the opportunity, you would have done it too. In Pakistan, the only ‘innocent’ one is the person who never got the chance.”
