An imam masjid (prayer leader) was mercilessly murdered in Lahore on Thursday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to police, unidentified men cut off the jugular vein of Imam Masjid Asif with the help of a sharp-edged knife in Lahore’s Shalamar area. Police said some unknown people had come for a meeting with the imam after which this gruesome incident was reported.

The police have sent the dead body to a hospital for post-mortem.

The police said no arrest has so far been made but the investigation was continuing.
