Wait finally over as parts of northern Pakistan receive rain, snow

After a long period of drought, finally a rain-producing system has entered Pakistan due to which different parts in the country’s north received rain and snow late Saturday night and on Sunday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Cold winds, accompanying the rain, turned the weather chillier.

It rained intermittently in parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), including Jhelum Valley and Hattian Bala, while upper areas of Jhelum Valley namely Leepa Valley, Pandu, Sudhan Gali received snow.

Abbottabad, suburbs receive rain and snow

Like other northern parts of the country, Abbottabad and its outskirts were also visited by rain, while it snowed over the mountains of popular hill stations like Thandiani and Galyat.

Similarly, Tirah Valley in district Khyber of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa received the first snowfall of this winter season, which made the weather extremely cold.

Temperatures drop further in Karachi

The winter season has also spread its tentacles to Karachi as winds blowing from the north-east has turned the weather in the coastal city quite cold.

The Met Office, on the other hand, predicted that parts of AJK and other areas in the north would continue to receive rain and snow throughout the week.

It also forecast rain for upper parts of Punjab, including Lahore while drizzle for few parts of Karachi.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Punjab had yesterday alerted the concerned departments about rain and snow over the hills in upper parts of the province.
