Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Monday visited the residence of Major Ziad Salim, who embraced martyrdom while fighting terrorists in Balochistan a few days ago, in Rawalpindi and offered his condolences to his family members, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The minister, on the occasion, offered Fatiha for the departed soul and prayed to the Almighty Allah to grant patience to the bereaved family.

He praised the family members of the martyred officer for being in high spirits.

Addressing his mother, he said that brave women like her were the nation's pride. “The sacrifice given by Major Zia can never be forgotten.”

The martyred officer’s brother, on the occasion, made Naqvi hear the last audio message from his brother.

His mother told the minister that her son had married only recently. “He had an immense love for the country,” she said, and added, “Despite being injured during the clash with the terrorists, he made the effort to save the lives of his comrades.”

It is reminded here that Major Ziad’s father, Brigadier Salim, had also laid down his life while defending the country in 2005.
