Punjab govt decides granting conditional permission for flying drones

The Punjab government has decided to grant conditional permission for flying drones, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

As per the notification issued by the Punjab home department on Tuesday, for this purpose, the provincial government had formed ‘safe drone usage committees’ in every district.

People will have to seek permission from these committees for flying drones.

Now, government and private organizations will be able to fly drones after seeking permission from these committees, which will also determine the time and places over which these devices will be flown as well as the duration of their flight.

Drones will be used for agricultural and research purposes besides for matters of people’s welfare.

Police will have to be informed in advance before flying drones.

Instructions have been issued to all commissioners, deputy commissioners, and police officials to implement the notification.

The deputy commissioner of the concerned district will be the committee’s convener, while the officials of police, CTD and Special Branch will be its members.

Hitherto, the provincial government had imposed a ban on flying drones.
