Ireland stun world champions India to seal historic T20I series victory

Ireland on Sunday defeated reigning T20 world champions India by one run in the second T20 International, sealing a historic series victory with back-to-back wins, 24NewsHD TV reported.

After winning the toss, India opted to field first. Ireland posted a competitive total of 154/8 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to a fine 53 from Harry Tector and 37 by Ben Calitz.

For India, Prince Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Dube claimed two wickets each.

Chasing 155 for victory, India fell agonisingly short, finishing on 153/9 despite a fighting effort from Tilak Varma, who top-scored with 55 runs. 

Shivam Dube contributed 20, but the visitors failed to cross the finish line as Ireland held their nerve to secure a thrilling one-run victory.

The win gave Ireland the T20I series after having already stunned India in the opening match, marking one of the biggest achievements in Irish cricket and handing the world champions consecutive defeats away from home.

Ireland's disciplined bowling and composed performance under pressure proved decisive as the hosts completed a memorable series triumph in Belfast.
