Prime Minister Imran Khan has convened a meeting of the National Security Committee tomorrow in view of the situation arising out of the religious party's move towards Islamabad, 24NEWSHD TV reported Thursday.
Sources said that the meeting was convened in view of the situation arising out of the illegal activities of the banned organization. Other issues related to national security will also be considered in the meeting.
It may be recalled that the banned TLP extended its protest from 12 Rabi-ul-Awal. Initially, the organization staged sit-ins in Multan and Lahore, after which a march towards Islamabad was announced.
The administration has closed major roads to prevent protesters from reaching Islamabad
The protesters have been holding sit-ins on Grand Trunk (GT) road for the last several days due to which the transport service has been suspended.
The march of the banned organization has affected life in the federal capital Islamabad and various cities in Punjab.
Strict security arrangements have been made in Rawalpindi; the main highways connecting Islamabad and Rawalpindi have been sealed. Faizabad Metro service is suspended from the President.
Alternative routes have been severely congested and citizens are facing difficulties, making it difficult for patients to get to the hospital.
According to reports, five policemen have been martyred and several others injured in clashes between police and protesters so far.
One of the demands of the TLP is the release of its leader Allama Saad Hussain Rizvi while they are also demanding the deportation of the French ambassador from Pakistan.
However, the federal interior minister has said that the French ambassador to Pakistan is not present and the French embassy cannot be closed.
