Bay of Bengal cyclone may impact coastal Sindh, Karachi

The Meteorology Department has warned that a tropical system forming in the Bay of Bengal is moving towards the Arabian Sea, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

The system is expected to affect southeastern and lower Sindh, including Karachi and other coastal areas. 

It will enter the Arabian Sea near Gujarat, India, bringing likely disruption in marine conditions, with winds expected to remain calm initially.

Currently, Karachi is experiencing a heatwave, while most areas of Sindh remain hot and humid. 

On 29–30 September, districts including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Badin, Sajawal, and Sanghar may see partly cloudy skies, thunderstorms, and light to moderate rain at some locations.

On 30 September, following the peak heat of the day, thunderstorms and moderate rainfall are expected in the afternoon or evening. 

The heat is likely to persist into Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with temperatures in various parts of Karachi reaching 35–37°C.

Under the influence of the approaching rain spell, today is expected to be extremely hot and humid, meteorologists warned.
