Multan vs Hyderabad: PSL knockout stage begins at Gaddafi Stadium tonight

The knockout stage of the Pakistan Super League 2026 begins on Wednesday evening with a crucial Eliminator 1 match between the Multan Sultans and the Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen at Gaddafi Stadium, with the contest set to start at 7pm.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Multan has been among the most consistent sides in the league phase, winning six of their ten matches and remaining in the race for a top-two finish until the closing rounds.

Their success has been built around a balanced squad combining overseas experience with local talent. At the top of the order, Sahibzada Farhan has been in excellent form, scoring one century and two half-centuries. 

Steve Smith has provided stability with composed batting, and together the pair have formed one of the most dependable opening partnerships of the season.

Josh Philippe has added important runs, while Shan Masood has offered calm support in the middle order.

Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen arrive with strong momentum after winning four of their last five matches, including an impressive display against Rawalpindiz.

Their batting line-up, led by Glenn Maxwell, Marnus Labuschagne and Usman Khan, has shown the ability to score quickly and change matches in a short period.

However, Hyderabad’s bowling has lacked consistency. Pacers Hunain Shah and Akif Javed have conceded runs heavily, while the side has allowed totals above 180 in four separate matches. Mohammad Ali has shown promise, but the bowling attack remains a concern.

There has been little to separate the two teams historically, with one victory each in previous meetings. Hyderabad’s earlier win over Multan this season adds extra intrigue and suggests they are capable of another upset.
