Pre-qualification of three firms okayed for construction of Islamabad projects

A four-hour-long meeting, chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad on Wednesday, approved the pre-qualification of three multinational companies for the construction of a new convention centre, expo centre and Islamabad Arena, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

Naqvi ordered the completion of these three projects ahead of the SCO summit.

The meeting also decided that all records of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) would be digitalised.

Naqvi said that the record would be digitalised within 120 days so that citizens would be able to know the updated status of their applications.

It was decided to acquire land for a Khidmat Markaz, which would be built in Sector F-6 of the federal capital.

The interior minister, on the occasion, sought a comprehensive plan from the concerned officials for developing the F-9 Park on the pattern of London’s Hyde Park and the introduction of recreational facilities near Shahdara Dam.

He made it clear that no illegal housing society would be allowed to be built in the federal capital.

Naqvi directed that work on Top Golf, Hot Air Balloon, Water Park and an Amusement Park be started at the earliest.

He also ordered the start of work on the beautification of the Expressway and Club Road immediately.

“Modern sports complexes will be built in the city for the promotion of sports,” he announced.

The minister, on the occasion, congratulated CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf and Member Estate Zaman Wattoo on laying bare a corruption scandal in the authority.

He said categorically that no corruption would be tolerated.
