Meagre cut in petroleum prices proposed

A meagre cut in the prices of different petroleum products has been proposed which will be announced on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

Price of one liter petrol is likely to decrease by 61 paisas and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs2.87 from September 1, 2015.

After the decrease, one liter of petrol will be available at Rs264 per liter, and high-speed diesel at Rs269.86 instead of Rs272.99 per liter. 

OGRA also proposed to drop the price of crude oil by Rs1.57 per liter. After approval crude oil will be available at 176.70 instead of Rs178.28 per liter.

The price of light diesel will be available at Rs158.55 instead of Rs162.16. Sources said that the government is receiving Rs80.52 under the head of climate support levy while Rs79.91 is being received by the government on one liter diesel.

The new prices will take effect from September 1 to 15, 2025.

The federal government will make the formal declaration on the night of August 31, bringing a small measure of relief to consumers already burdened by rising living costs.

The expected adjustment reflects recent movements in global oil markets, coupled with a slight reduction in the petrol import premium, both of which are driving the anticipated decline in domestic fuel prices.
