Commenting on the deaths of 14 newborns at Islamabad’s Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) a couple of days ago, Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Dr. Musadik Masood Malik said on Saturday that it was strange that not a single doctor, a nurse or a fireman came to a harm, but 14 innocent souls were burnt, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a function in Lahore, he said that the loss of lives of infants was a big question mark over the country’s system. “If the treatment of children of politicians and government servants at state-run hospitals such as PIMS is made mandatory, perhaps we can hope for an improvement,” he said, and added that the system could not improve as long as children of upper class also received treatment at hospitals like the PIMS.

He said that climate change had emerged as a big challenge for Pakistan and the time had come for making collective efforts to deal with the problem.
