The government has decided to hold a broad-based consultation over the fixing of wheat support price, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

According to sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari have already decided to make an agreement on the determination of support price of wheat.

Both Shehbaz and Bilawal will hold a meeting on the issue as soon as possible.

The approval of the summary to be prepared after the consultation between Prime Minister Shehbaz and Foreign Minister Bilawal, will be sought from the federal cabinet.

The government sources were hopeful that some flexibility will be shown on the part of federal government and some on the part of Sindh government that could pave way for the determination of the support price.

Sources informed that Bilawal had raised objection to the summary suggesting wheat support price and then the cabinet withdrew the summary.

The circulation summary was taken back after getting a nod from the prime minister, sources added.

The Pakistan Peoples Party has suggested a bloated support price for the commodity. On the other hand, the ministry of national food security has recommended fixing Rs3,000 per maund support price of the staple food.

However, the Sindh government has fixed Rs4,000 per maund support price of wheat.
