Shehbaz, Turner agree it’s time for cooperation, not agitation
Both sides discuss world, regional, FATF issues in a video conference
PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and UK High Commissioner Christian Turner on Wednesday agreed that it was time for moving forward through cooperation, not agitation and collision, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
These views were expressed in a video conference where the two sides discussed a range of issues including the coronavirus pandemic, local government, Financial Action Task Force (FATF) as well as world and region matters.
They also discussed the matters related to social development and different uplift programmes as Shehbaz thanked the UK for extending financial and technical cooperation health, education and other projects across Pakistan and particularly in Punjab.
Shehbaz noted that the current opposition was the most responsible in Pakistan’s history and had been playing a constructive role. “The economic challenges are very serious. The opposition will continue fulfilling its constitutional responsibility of raising the people’s voice at every forum,” he added.
Better performance, development and social improvement of the people should be the government’s top priority, he noted.
The PML-N president said the United Kingdom had always extended cooperation for democracy, people’s welfare and development and progress of Pakistan.
During its 2013-18 tenure, the PML-N government had defeated the monster of terrorism, overcame the energy shortage and launched historic development projects, Shehbaz told the top British diplomat in Pakistan.
He noted that Pakistan and the United Kingdom could be the key partners and stakeholders in promoting world and regional peace as well as the common world values.
Expressing his views, Turner praised Shehbaz for his performance during the stint as the Punjab chief minister and said the projects involving DFID (Department for International Development) were completed successfully in a transparent manner.
He expressed his best wishes for the health of Shehbaz and said the two countries would continue striving for achieving the mutual goals of trust, cooperation and development.
