Campaign for legal fight in Noor Mukadam case raises 41K in a day

July 29, 2021 05:03 PM

A fund raising campaign initiated by late Noor Mukadam friends has raised $41405 in a day as the campaign is targeting a goal to collect $120000 to fight the legal case to take her murderers to the task.

A fundraiser named Tariq Ghaffar has initiated fundraising for late Noor Mukadam who was mercilessly and brutally beheaded allegedly by her killer Zahir Zakir.

In the fund raising note, Tariq Ghaffar wrote, “Noor was taken away from us on 20th July 2021 by the murderer, Zahir Jaffer. The circumstances surrounding her gruesome death, the torment, and the terror that she must have felt in her final hours make us all wish we could do something to save her. But we couldn’t.”

“Noor means “light” and that is what she was in the lives of everyone she met. She had a heart filled with love and kindness, and that is how everyone who has ever met her will remember her. We will never forget her kindness to everyone - from strangers to stray animals - and her willingness to laugh at everything big or small. In her painfully short 27 years, Noor taught us all how to live, how to be better, and how to uplift everyone and everything around us. But in her final hours, Zahir showed her the ugliest, most depraved form of existence. The abduction, torture, and manner in which Noor’s life was finally taken defy all notions of humanity. After he was discovered alone with the body and the murder weapon, you would assume that Zahir would swiftly and effortlessly be brought to justice. But due to the broken system that we are a part of, that may not be so simple,” he added.

“As friends of Noor and friends of her family, we cannot watch her life flicker out without getting justice,” the fund raising compaign reads.

“Zahir Jaffar comes from an extremely well-connected and wealthy family. He and his parents have already secured legal representation from the best lawyers in the city, and they have the resources to fight this battle endlessly. We, as friends of Noor, are launching this campaign so that as her family grieves their beautiful daughter, they do not have to carry the additional burden of worrying about how they will afford the legal representation they need for bringing Noor’s killer to justice,” she said.

“Going by past experience, this will likely be a lengthy process, spread over multiple stages of litigation. Our total has been calculated to account for all of this, and all proceeds raised through this platform will be used to directly fight Noor’s case. In the event that any funds remain, they will be directed to aid victims of domestic violence. Noor, who was the light of our lives, did not deserve this. Please help us by contributing to this fight, by stepping up for our Noor, and for countless other women who are demonized by men like Zahir and a system that is broken. Every time one killer escapes, others learn that they, too, can get away. We couldn’t save her while she lived, but your contribution will help make sure that we can at least take this to its rightful end. We want justice for Noor. Noor is the voice for millions of women suffering from violence around the world,” he added.

“We will not stop fighting for her.  She is my Noor. She is your Noor. She is our Noor,” says Ghaffar.
