One electricity unit to now cost consumers Rs41

Amid the rising electricity prices in the country, the maximum tariff of electricity for domestic consumers has reached Rs41 per unit and the minimum Rs27.42 per unit, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

It is learnt that there will be a record increase in the electricity bills of August on account of the fuel-cost adjustment for the month of June.

The electricity consumers, who are using up to 300 units of electricity, will be charged Rs27.22 per unit while those using 300 to 700 units of electricity will be charged Rs34.71 per unit.

Similarly, the electricity consumers, using more than 700 units of electricity, will be charged Rs37.81 per unit.

Moreover, 17 per cent General Sales Tax (GST) will also be levied on the electricity bills.

Along with the GST, other taxes will also be collected in the form of bills.
