The employees of the National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad closed the Covid-19 counter before locking main gate of the institute on Tuesday to protest against the non-payment of coronavirus risk allowance to them despite promised by the government, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to the media, they alleged that secretary health had withheld their allowances.
They made it clear that today they would protest for two hours. However, if their demand was not met, they would be forced to prolong duration of their protest in days to come.
Pakistan buys 3m SinoVac doses
A Pakistan International Airline plane has brought a large consignment of Chinese vaccine to Pakistan on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Reportedly, a PIA plane brought down 3 million doses of Chinese vaccine, SinoVac, at Islamabad Airport on Tuesday.
Sources informed that government has purchased 3 million doses of SinoVac from China. The Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) has prepared a plan to supply vaccine doses to the provinces.
The Economic Coordination Committee in its May 31 meeting approved the purchase of 10 million coronavirus vaccine doses.
The finance ministry set aside Rs20 billion budget to purchase 10 million Covid-19 vaccine doses.
According to details, the finance ministry would provide Rs20 billion fund to the National Disaster and Management Authority for the purchase of the vaccine.
The responsibility to administer the vaccine has been given to the health ministry.
