Khwaja Sara out in Sindh town against police inaction over ‘extreme brutality’
A group of Khwaja Sira (transgender individuals) took to the streets in Kandiaro town of the Naushahro Feroze district in Sindh to protest against local police for allegedly dragging their feet over a case of ‘extreme brutality’.
The protesters – including Rabina Faqir, Komal Faqir, Muskan, and Shesha Faqir – staged a sit-in outside the National Press Club after marching from various parts of the town.
According to the demonstrators, their fellow community members invited Sohail alias Sohna Faqir to resolve a matter three days ago. They alleged that the accused drugged Sohna and then severed his ‘private parts’.
While local police have registered a case, no arrests have been made so far, the protesters claimed.
They called on senior police officials and authorities concerned to take immediate notice and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
They threatened to stage a protest outside the SSP’s office if their demands are not met.
