WhatsApp, mobile banking scam gang busted in Multan
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency has successfully busted a major cyber fraud gang involved in international WhatsApp scams, fake Facebook IDs, and bogus , mobile banking accounts in Multan, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to the agency's spokesperson, a well-organised six-member syndicate was arrested in the Dunyapur area during a special operation.
The arrested individuals were identified as Muhammad Rashid, Muhammad Isa, Muhammad Younas, Muhammad Nasir, Muhammad Munir, and Muhammad Nadeem.
During the raid, six mobile phones were recovered, which were allegedly used in executing online financial scams.
The suspects were using social media platforms and digital financial services to defraud unsuspecting citizens.
A formal FIR has been registered, and legal proceedings against the suspects are underway.
