FPCCI demands finance minister’s resignation

The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) sought the immediate resignation of Federal Minister for Finance Mohammad Aurangzeb, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

In a statement, FPCCI Vice-President Nasir Khan said that the culture to appointment a banker as finance minister must end. He said that 85 percent of the debt is going to the government, and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) failed to expand the tax net.

Nasir Khan said that Pakistan did not need any banker; instead, an economic expert should be appointed as the finance minister.

The VP of FPCCI said that 99 percent of cases were found to be bogus in the courts. Nasir Khan said that the government has to pay Rs6,000 billion as interest on debt.

Nasir Khan said that the government will pay Rs9,000 billion as interest on the debt. Nasir Khan warned that if the situation remains unchanged, then the government will not have enough money to pay the salaries of government servants by 2035.
