Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra tipped to feature major display upgrade

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra could offer a major display upgrade, with a new leak suggesting the foldable smartphone will feature a substantially brighter internal screen than its predecessor.

According to a tip shared by a well-known leakster on X, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to use a foldable OLED panel capable of reaching a peak brightness of up to 3,600 nits. If accurate, this would make the display around 1,000 nits brighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 7's foldable screen.

The leaked information also suggests the display will continue to use Samsung's M13 OLED emissive material rather than a newer generation panel. Additionally, the device is not expected to include the Privacy Display technology that debuted with the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

While the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 may also receive the same display improvements, that detail has not yet been confirmed. Both foldable models are rumored to feature a nearly crease-free display.

In terms of cameras, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to feature a 200-megapixel primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 50MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, and a 10MP telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom. The device is also rumored to include two 10MP front-facing cameras—one on the cover display and another on the internal foldable screen.

The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 is tipped to feature a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, and the same dual 10MP selfie camera setup.

Both smartphones are expected to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM and at least 256GB of internal storage. Samsung is also expected to support 45W wired fast charging on both models.

Battery capacities are rumored to differ, with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 expected to feature a 4,800mAh battery, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra could pack a larger 5,000mAh unit.

On the software side, both foldables are likely to ship with One UI 9.0 based on Android 17 and include expanded Galaxy AI features alongside Gemini Intelligence. Connectivity options are expected to include 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, UWB, NFC, GNSS, and a USB 3.2 Type-C port with 5Gbps data transfer speeds.

Samsung has yet to officially confirm the specifications or launch date of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series.
