The burial of a Karachi businessman, who was shot dead in an armed attack in Dasht area of Balochistan, while returning home with his family after a trip to Quetta, was held in the megacity, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

His Namaz-e-Janaza was offered at a mosque on Tariq Road on Sunday which was attended by a large number of traders.

Reports said the deceased, Ali Murtaza, who ran a mobile phone business in Karachi, had travelled to Quetta with his wife and two daughters.

While returning home in their car on Friday night, the family reportedly lost their way after being misdirected by navigation app and strayed off the National Highway into the Kand area of Dasht, where some unidentified persons signalled them to stop. When Ali Murtaza did not comply, they opened fire, killing him on the spot and wounding his wife.

However, their two daughters, who were also in the vehicle, remained safe.

The body was brought to Karachi on Sunday, and the funeral prayers were held at Rehmania Mosque on Tariq Road.

The incident drew widespread condemnation from all walks of life.
