PM to reveal comprehensive strategy against coronavirus tomorrow
PTI Core Committee tasks members under corona relief programme
Prime Minister Imran Khan will again address the nation on Monday in order to take the people into confidence over the government’s steps to control the coronavirus spread.
The PTI’s core committee meeting which was held in Islamabad on Sunday reviewed the overall situation relating to the coronavirus pandemic, and according to sources decided to include its legislators and party members across the country with special tasks in the corona relief tigers programme.
The meeting that was presided by Prime Minister Imran was briefed over the measures the provincial authorities are taking against the further spread of the virus. The committee also reviewed the uninterrupted flow of transports across the country.
The ruling party’s active role was also discussed in creating awareness among the people against the virus.
In addition, the core committee of the ruling party discussed the mechanism under which the proposed volunteer force announced by PM a few days earlier would be delivering the relief package to the deserving people.
The PM-led core committee also decided to delegate its legislators across the country with special tasks as the party members will also be included in the corona relief tigers programme.
“I believe that the entire nation will be united during this difficult time,” a source quoted PM as saying.
The PM also said that the government is exclusively focusing on the underprivileged class, and “whatever strategy we’ll make, it will prioritize the daily wagers.”
The PM will decide about extending the package to the construction industry tomorrow, and the government will distribute financial assistance to 2.5 million people under Ehsas Programme tomorrow.
Firdous press briefing
After the meeting, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan said that Prime Minister Imran Khan would announce an inclusive roadmap to deal with the coronavirus outbreak in the country on Monday.
Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that people should cooperate in the steps that were being taken for their benefit because, without the cooperation of the people, the government could not overcome the coronavirus epidemic.
“It is our responsibility and topmost priority to provide relief, help and ensure treatment facilities to coronavirus affected person and then stop it from spreading in Pakistan,” she added.
Dr Firdous said that the government allocated all the available resources for dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
Ensuring food provision to the poor and needy is the government’s responsibility, she quoted PM Imran. She said that the prime minister would announce a comprehensive strategy to deal with the crisis tomorrow.
The SAPM said eight new state-of-the-art laboratories were being set up across Punjab to enhance testing capabilities.
