Imran gave ‘surprise’ to Buzdar, not to Opposition: Khaqan Abbasi

Deriding Prime Minister Imran Khan’s move to demand resignation from Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, PML-N senior leader and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that the PM did not give surprise to the opposition, he gave surprise to Buzdar, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Abbasi was talking to media outside the accountability court in Islamabad where he came to attend the hearing of a reference against him on Tuesday.

Commenting on the PML-Q’s decision to remain an ally of the PTI government after PM Khan nominated PML-Q leader and Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Pervaiz Elahi for the slot of Punjab chief ministership, Abbasi said that ‘Q League is a political party which is independent to make its own decision.’ 

He said the opposition was not baffled by the premier’s surprise, rather it was outgoing Buzdar who must be stumped. 

“The Punjab chief minister had been sacrificed yesterday evening at the altar of PTI politics. Imran sacrificed him to save his government,” he mocked. 

The PML-N leader who has been facing the NAB reference during the PTI regime was of the view that political temperature was high in the country nowadays. “My accountability is done now,” he said daring the government to put all the references made against the PML-N leaders before the public.

He said Imran Khan’s days were numbered. Now the PTI leaders have to give account of the corruption cases of billions of rupees, he maintained. 

Earlier, the accountability court headed by Judge Azam Khan heard the LNG reference against former prime minister. 

Abbasi and other accused appeared before the court. But the court adjourned the hearing till March 31 as lawyers skipped the hearing owing to their engagement in other cases.

Barrister Zafarullah would cross-examine the witnesses during the next hearing.
