The Sindh High Court (SHC) Tuesday disposed of the contempt petition filed against Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid and Sindh Governor Imran Ismail for ‘making a mockery of the court orders’ in Nazim Jokhio murder case, stating: “How can the court issue contempt notice when no arrest has been made?”
The court asked the petitioner to file the contempt petition if any arrest is made, adding the court will not issue contempt notice on this petition.
Earlier, a contempt petition was filed in the SHC against Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid and Sindh Governor Imran Ismail for ‘making a mockery of the court orders’ in Nazim Jokhio murder case.
It was stated in the petition that MNA Jam Abdul Karim had been granted protective bail by the Sindh High Court till March 25 in the Nazim Jokhio murder case.
“Jam Abdul Karim wants to appear in the trial court to surrender,” the petitioner had said.
“But Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid made a mockery of the court orders by vowing arrest of the MNA despite protective bail,” he had stated.
“The Sindh governor also wrote a letter to the federal government to place the name of the MNA on Exit Control List (ECL),” he had added and sought contempt proceedings against both of them.
It is to be noted here that Nazim Jokhio was found murdered at the Malir farmhouse of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MPA Jam Awais in November last year. The MPA, along with his MNA brother Jam Abdul Karim and others, had been booked for allegedly torturing Nazim to death as he had tried to prevent his foreign guests from hunting houbara bustard.
