MVHMO Leader ship docks at Gwadar Port
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry on Sunday said that Gwadar had begun to emerge as a safe and secure port at a time when there was a war in the Gulf, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking at a ceremony held to mark the arrival of a new ship, MVHMO Leader, at Gwadar Port, the minister said that the world’s shipping lines now headed towards the port since they viewed it as an alternative for other ports.
“While on one hand, traditional shipping routes have lost their significance due to tension in the region, Gwadar Port’s significance has increased.”
Cargo operation in full swing at Karachi Port
Meanwhile, cargo operation at the Karachi Port continues at a brisk pace as 18 ships docked at the port on Sunday while seven more were expected to berth in the next 24 hours.
KPT Chairman Rear Admiral (r) Shahid Ahmad visited the port and reviewed security and safety arrangements made at the Operations Center.
Commandant Port Security Force briefed the KPT chairman on the security situation.
