UN honours Pakistani peacekeeper with posthumous award

The United Nations has awarded a Pakistani peacekeeper the Dag Hammarskjold Medal, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.

In a tweet, the ISPR said UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres announced the posthumous award for Sepoy Amir Aslam in a virtual ceremony at UN Headquarters in New York.

Sepoy Aslam served the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO).

“As the UN commemorates the International Peacekeepers, services of Sepoy Amir Aslam from Kotli, Azad Jammu & Kashmir were acknowledged with the posthumous award.
