Power outages continue amid 5,538 MW shortfall

The electricity shortfall in the country is 5,538 MW as per the power division sources, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

The total power generation in the country is 19,465 MW in contrast with its demand which is 25,997 MW.

The government’s thermal power plants are generating 1,060 MW of electricity, whereas, 4,662 MW of electricity is being generated from hydropower.

The independent power producers (IPPs) are generating 9,677 MW of electricity.

Meanwhile, unannounced power loadshedding of eight hours is being carried out in different parts of the country.

The duration of power loadshedding is longer in areas with high line losses.
