A policeman embraced martyrdom while five persons including a woman sustained injuries as robbers went on a rampage in the provincial capital of Sindh, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

A shootout between police and robbers in the Landhi area claimed the life of a cop. The martyred lawman was identified as Hamza who sacrificed his life in a firefight with armed muggers near Alamgir Market.

Two persons sustained serious injuries near Saba Cinema as they resisted a robbery bid. The injured were named Shabbir and Ehtesham. A young man, Bilal, was injured in a firing incident in Ayub Goth while a woman and her son sustained wounds when they put resistance. The injured were Saima and her son Aziq. 

Police say they have registered the cases and launched a hunt for the outlaws.
