Intense cold grips Balochistan as mercury drops to -6 in Kalat

Bitterly cold weather has gripped Kalat and other parts of Balochistan as the minimum temperature in the city nosedived to -6 degrees Celsius on Saturday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Tap water and water in drains has frozen due to extreme cold.

The absence of electricity and gas in the city has added to the woes of the people.

The situation is not much different in other areas of the province, including the provincial capital Quetta, where nighttime temperatures have also dropped below freezing point.

Cold, dry weather forecast for Islamabad

Meanwhile, the weather department has forecast cold and dry weather for Islamabad and its outskirts during the next 24 hours.

The maximum temperature in the city would go up to 21 degrees Celsius, while it would remain 5 degrees Celsius on the minimum side.

Breeze is expected to blow in the city at a speed of three kilometers per hour, while the humidity level in the air in the morning was recorded at over 44 per cent.

Lahore ranked world’s second most polluted city

On the other hand, Lahore, the city of gardens, emerged as the second most polluted city in the world on Saturday as the air quality index (AQI) in the city rose to 246.

Egyptian capital, Cairo, topped the list of the world’s cities with worst air quality.

The AQI around civil secretariat in the Punjab capital shot up to alarming 632.

Similarly, it was recorded at 563 in and around Johar Town locality, while in Cantonment it stood at 445.
