In the latest incident of child murder, the body of a two-year-old girl was found five days after she went missing in Chakdara – the main town of Lower Dir district, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
According to details, the victim, Hareem Shah, had gone along with her mother to attend a family function, but the family was unable to trace her since then.
Police have started investigating the brutal murder as the body was shifted to the local hospital for autopsy.
Reacting strongly to the tragic incident, the family members and locals staged a protest, demanding a thorough probe and action against the culprits.
The country is witnessing a series of child abuse, rape and murder cases in which even little children, especially girls, are the target.
Earlier this month, two-and-a-half-year-old Zainab was abducted, raped and brutally murdered in Charsadda, triggering an outcry at national and international levels.
And in Karachi, the body of five-year-old Marwah was recovered from a trash heap in the Old Sabzi Mandi area, two days after she was reported to have gone missing. She was also raped before being murdered and torched.
In January, four-year-old Asma was raped before being strangled to death in Mardan. The minor girl had gone missing while playing outside her house and was found dead in a sugarcane field on the next day.
But this rape culture is not limited to the little kids as a woman was gang-raped on motorway in front of her children. This horrendous act was followed by the insulting remarks repeatedly passed Lahore CCPO Umer Sheikh who blamed the victim for the incident, saying she shouldn’t travelled without a male family member in the night.
The Lahore police chief, who is tasked with protecting the citizens, had also stated that the woman should know that it was Pakistan, not France, where she had lived for years.
