CM Maryam urges religious parties to shun violence

Punjab Chief Ministers Maryam Nawaz has said that it was the duty of the state to stop elements which ae involved in violence and chaos in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel. 

Addressing an interfaith moot in Lahore on Wednesday, CM Maryam questioned where did crores of rupees and such a large number of weapons come from? Maryam Nawaz said government had seized crores of rupees and a large number of weapons from the office of the banned party. 

She said religious parties should distance themselves from these mischievous elements. CM Maryam Nawaz said it was duty of the religious parties to explain the true spirit of religion to their followers. 

She said, “as the Chief Minister, it is my religious and moral responsibility to protect the safety, property and honor of my people”. Maryam Nawaz said keeping of weapons in some madrasas and mosques was a threat against the state and the people. CM Maryam said these weapons were used against the police and Rangers and created fear among the people. Maryam Nawaz said “We cannot do it by condemnation alone, we have to take practical steps.”

She quoted the example of PTI by saying that as long as PTI members are fighting a political war, no one has said anything to them but when PTI fired bullets against the state, burned properties, then PTI was removed from the category of political party for doing anti-state activities. Punjab Chief Minister said when PTI took up arms on May 9, then its decline began, adding that when a political party takes up arms becomes a violent party. She said a person sitting in Adiala was giving false information about the deaths.
