FBR launches digital monitoring system for sugar mills

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has made video analytics-based monitoring mandatory for all sugar mills across Pakistan, 24NewsHD TV reported on Wednesday. 

This move aimed at ensuring transparency in sugar production and curbing tax evasion in the sector.

 According to an official notification, the FBR has formally launched a modern digital monitoring system that will track sugar production in real time through video analytics technology.

All sugar mills have been directed to install advanced GPU-based video systems before the start of the upcoming crushing season.

The notification stated that production monitoring equipment must be installed and operational prior to the commencement of crushing, and mills will not be allowed to produce sugar without the approved monitoring system in place.

The FBR said the decision was taken to enable electronic surveillance of sugar output through a central monitoring network.

The video analytics system will continuously analyze production activity, helping to detect discrepancies and improve tax compliance.
