The Lahore High Court again heard a case relating to the recovery of a 14-year old maid from a women trafficking gang, and asked the authorities what do you expect from God Almighty except the coronavirus in nations that witness women trafficking.

The court hearing was attended by the AIG Investigation Azhar Hameed Khokha, DIG Operations Ray Babar Saeed on Friday. The court ordered the former to conduct a thorough inquiry before submitting a detailed report regarding the women trafficking gang.

In addition, the court ordered the police to submit a report after having the recovered girl identified by her parents.

Justice Farooq Haider heard the case again on the petition of Sadaf Bibi, and expressed anger over the absence of the CCPO Lahore. “We had summoned the CCPO, where is he?”

On this, the court was told the CCPO was at a meeting.

Justice Farooq remarked “We, the judges and police, have some rights and duties, and if we don’t fulfill them, we would be the first to answer before God on the day of judgement.”

Then the indignant judge remarked “Has the respect of the courts reduced to this level that a woman comes here and lies that she’s the mother of the recovered girl, and her lie is approved by the oath commissioner?”

“What do you expect from God except the calamities like coronavirus on nations that witness women trafficking!”

“Had Quaid-i-Azam founded Pakistan for this reason that the posterity would get involved in the heinous acts like women trafficking?”

Justice Farooq further remarked that the teenage girls are sold to septuagenarians, who later pass them on to a higher bidder.

Later the court instructed the DIG to bring this matter to CCPO’s attention, and ordered the DPO Sialkot to ensure the girl’s protection.

“I’m here till after the Juma prayers; go to NADRA to verify the girl’s parents and submit the report to me,” Justice Farooq.

After which the court ordered arrest of the woman witness who lied to the court. She had claimed to be the mother of the recovered girl.
