The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has approved a new mentoring program for the university's students to stimulate academic growth and serve as positive role models for students in areas of career interest, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.  

The 25th meeting of the Academic and Administrative Advisory Committee (AAAC) of the UHS was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathore, in which this program was approved. 

Named "Fahm" (meaning Understanding), the mentoring program will entail mentors offering tailored guidance and student feedback on academic matters.

The overarching goals of this program encompass enhancing overall academic progress by sharing valuable knowledge applicable beyond the classroom setting.

Through aiding in time management, stress alleviation, offering support, and furnishing guidance, the initiative aims to equip students for success in both academic pursuits and future careers. Developed by the UHS Medical Education department, the program is poised to contribute significantly to students' holistic development.

Expressing his vision for the university's graduates, UHS Vice Chancellor Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore emphasized the importance of cultivating distinctive personalities among students through the mentoring program. Under this program, each mentor will be assigned five to seven mentees, facilitating bi-monthly meetings wherein mentees are encouraged to openly voice their opinions.

The program encompasses study sessions, career planning, leadership training, communication skills refinement, and community service.

Additionally, the meeting saw an agreement to align health research projects with the priorities of both domestic and international funding bodies.

The UHS VC instructed faculty members to develop health research projects centered on artificial intelligence, environmental concerns, and sustainable development goals.

He clarified that admission to postgraduate programs would be contingent upon the preparation and funding of research projects. Furthermore, decisions were made to restructure the Student Affairs, Information Technology, and Audio Visual Support departments.
