Govt to do forensic audit of national entities facing financial losses

The auditor general of Pakistan on Tuesday announced forensic audit of national institutions suffering from financial losses. 

According to sources, forensic audit of five national entities like the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Pakistan Railways, Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) would be done in the first phase. 

Sources say that forensic audit of other power distribution companies suffering from financial losses would be done in the second phase. Sources say that Pakistan Railways’ forensic audit would be done from 2016 to 2019. The Northern Power Generation Company is also among the institutions, which would have their forensic audit done. 

A team has been formed to do forensic audit of the aforementioned institutions and the task would be completed in 120 days.
