A sessions court in Lahore Thursday dismissed a claim of marriage suit filed by actress Meera (Irtiza Rubab) declaring her marriage contract (nikkahnama) with Attiqur Rehman as original, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Additional Sessions Judge Mazhar Abbas issued the detailed 18-page judgment in which the court ruled that petitioner Meera did not present any evidence to prove that the she was not married to Atiq.

As per court ruling, the documented evidence proved that Meera got married in 2007.

The court said that Meera has not presented any evidence to prove that the signature on the marriage certificate was forged. The ruling stated that Meera’s claim of not getting married to Atiq is wrong.

The court ruled that due to the refusal of the wife, the parties have come to the conclusion that they could not live together as husband and wife.

The trial court had only one option to end the marriage on the basis of ‘khula’, the decision said.

The court said that it was the duty of the petitioner (Meera) to prove the marriage certificate as false on the basis of evidence. The decision stated that the actress Meera did not even appear in the family court for cross-examination.

The court observed actress Meera did not deny the pictures presented to the court and said that these pictures were taken during drama.

In view of the facts, no illegality was found in the decision of the Family Court, stated the written decision.

As per the decision, the appeal has no merit and is therefore dismissed. While, petitioner will bear the cost of appeal, the court ruled.

Actress Meera decided to challenge her marriage certificate in 2007, the ruling said.

The petitioner stated that she met Atiqur Rehman in connection with the shooting of a film and afterwards they visited several countries. According to Meera, the marriage certificate was forged, the verdict said further.
