No vaccination, no salaries, Sindh CM warns govt employees

Making receiving of the coronavirus vaccine mandatory for the government servants in view of the spread of the pandemic in Sindh, the provincial government on Thursday warned them that their salaries would be withheld from July onwards in the event of their non-compliance with its orders, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In this connection, Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah has issued instructions to the Finance Department.

He has also directed 300 basic health units (BHUs) situated across the province to set up vaccination centres for the purpose where, as per his directions, 30,000 doses of the vaccine would be administered daily.

Likewise, the CM has directed mobile teams to vaccinate 60, 000 people against the virus in a day while private hospitals have been given the target of administering the vaccine to 10, 000 people daily. 

As per NCOC data released on Thursday morning, Pakistan’s confirmed infections of Covid-19 has reached 926,695, against 852,574 recoveries and 21,022 deaths, leaving 53,099 active cases.

Confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Sindh have now climbed to 320,488; it reported 1,041 new infections on Thursday after administering 15,008 tests, a positivity ratio of 6.94 percent. The province reported 22 deaths, raising toll to 5,073, while its recoveries rose by 1,238 to 290,640. Overall, the province now has 24,775 active cases of the novel coronavirus.

Pakistan also started coronavirus vaccination for those who are over 18 years from today. A digital portal has been launched by the federal government for the registration through which a code is assigned to the person. They can then go to a designated vaccination centre and get a jab.
