Former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has warned that the PTI long march might turn bloody calling upon the establishment to intervene as the new government has stooped down to exact revenge from its political rivals, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Awami Muslim League Chief Sh Rashid was addressing the media at Lal Haveli, Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

He said he had written a letter to all incumbent service chiefs including Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa pleading to them to intervene as the new government was creating such an atmosphere in which people would set fire to themselves. He warned that people might try self-immolation during long march.

“The hostile atmosphere being created by the government may give way to fights and squabbles in streets and Mohallahs in the country,” he said asserting that the government had indulged in the political vendetta.

Rashid said that the bloke who was sitting in London would use derogatory language (against establishment), adding that through a foreign conspiracy, an anti-Army movement was being run.

He said he was informing the people beforehand.

He stated that every girl was decorating her palms with the Henna inscription saying “Imported Government Na Manzoor”.

The former interior minister said that the next 30 days were very important. He warned that circumstances were not good asking administration to find some solution by May 31 and announce election within 90 days. He said he wanted to keep things cool.

“The circumstances are drifting us to other direction. Our only demand is announcement of early election by the government. I pray there should remain peace in the country, lest everything should be wrapped up and gone with the wind,” he added.

On the arrest of his nephew by police, Rashid said they could keep his nephew in jail as long as they wanted. “I’m ready to court arrest wherever Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah wants me to detain,” he said adding that he firmly believed in the sanctity of Roza-e-Rasool and never thought of its desecration.

Rashid said that those who sold themselves, they could not even go back to their hometowns to perform Eid prayers.

He objected to the installation of Shehbaz Sharif as prime minister saying his party could have accepted any other person but him as the premier.

He hinted that the politics was going to enter a cul de sac warning that only 30 days were left.

He said if he was summoned as a guarantor, he would try to defuse the tension.

He rued that Asif Ali Zardari chose Rana Sanaullah.

He said he would convince Imran Khan for talks.
