Ali Junejo wins São Paulo International Film Festival award for Joyland

aim Sadiq’s film Joyland won the Honourable Mention Award at the São Paulo International Film Festival for lead actor Ali Junejo.

Sadiq broke the announcement that Junejo won the Honourable Mention along with Zelda Samson of the French film Dalva and film Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman by Pierre Földes.

Pertinent to note that Joyland executive producer’s Nobel laureate Malala joined the film this year. 

Pakistani Academy Selection Committee also selected the film for the International Feature Film Award category for the Oscars. 

The film teaser was released on October 12.

Joyland official Instagram page describes the film as “exciting and emotional world of Joyland that delves deep into the challenging complexities of desire and patriarchy, through the story of the Rana family.”
