The prices of petrol and diesel are likely to go down as the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has sent a summary to the government seeking a cut in the rates, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

According to sources, the OGRA has suggested that the price of petrol can be reduced by Rs5 to Rs7, while the price of diesel has been proposed to be cut by Rs8 per litre.

The sources said that there are chances that the prices of petrol and diesel can be maintained.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar will consult Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the OGRA recommendations and the final decision regarding the prices of petroleum products will be taken today.

The new prices of petroleum products for the next 15 days will be applicable after 12 O'clock midnight.
