CSS 2025 results announced with only 2.67% success rate

The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) announced the results of the CSS 2025 examination, with a success rate of only 2.67 per cent, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.
A total of 12,792 candidates appeared in the examination, but only 355 managed to pass the written stage. The commission has recommended 170 candidates for appointment, including 84 men and 86 women.
--Position holders--
According to the results, Asid Rafiq secured the first position, followed by Muhammad Mohsin Khalid in second place and Tariq Hafeez in third.
The top 30 position holders have been allocated to the Pakistan Administrative Service and the Police Service, while none were placed in the Foreign Service.
Among the top 30 candidates, 23 belong to Punjab, while two each are from Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and three are from Balochistan.
--Delay in results--
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the results were issued after a delay, as the commission had earlier stated that the final outcome would be released in April 2026 due to pending decisions on vacancies.
Last month, 24NewsHD TV reported that the commission had postponed the results, explaining that the final number of successful candidates would be confirmed after the start of the 54th Common Training Programme at the Civil Services Academy Lahore.
The CSS 2025 examinations were held last year, while interviews have already been completed. The written examination results were announced on 22 August 2025, with a pass rate of 2.77 per cent.
--327 vacancies confirmed--
Officials said the final number of vacancies for this year was confirmed recently. A total of 327 posts will be filled, including 191 new vacancies and 136 carried over from previous years.
The distribution includes 169 seats on open merit, 35 reserved for women and 123 for minorities.
Punjab has been allocated 157 posts, followed by 43 for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 30 for Sindh Rural, 28 for Sindh Urban and 28 for Balochistan.
Further allocations include 16 posts for former tribal areas, seven for Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and three for Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
The vacancies cover key services such as the Pakistan Administrative Service, Police Service, Foreign Service, Inland Revenue Service and the Office Management Group.
Officials said the final appointment of candidates will be based on merit, individual preferences and suitability, in line with the quota policy of the Establishment Division.
