Release Khawaja Asif or be ready for consequences, warns Maryam

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has come down hard on the government over the arrest of former defence minister Khawaja Asif by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Addressing an emergency press conference in Lahore on Tuesday, she raised the demand for the immediate release of Kh Asif. Release Kh Asif, or face the consequence, she asked the government.
Dubbing the detention a bid to intimidate PML-N senior leaders, she said such steps can’t shatter the PML-N’s resolve.
The former defence minister was offered to quash cases if he abandons Nawaz Sharif, she claimed and said the matter would be taken the upcoming PDM meeting.
The PML-N leader questioned why NAB ‘turned a blind eye to sugar scam, wheat crisis, LNG theft, irregularities in Tree Tsunami project.
About Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam rift, she said that someone else is creating problems for Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s party. She said she received resignations from all the Punjab lawmakers. She stressed Nawaz will come to Pakistan as soon as his treatment ends.
