After listening to the viewpoints of all the parties to the dispute, arising out of allegations of rigging in the Lahore Press Club (LPC) elections held four days ago, on December 26, 2021, the election committee on Thursday decided to hold re-polling on Jan 16, 2022 (Sunday), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
It is clarified here that the same candidates would be contesting on January 16 who had featured in December 26 elections.
Although there was a consensus among all members of the election committee that there should be immediate re-polling; however, when the committee inquired from the press club administration about the suitable date on which the elections could be held again, the latter told that due to the expenses to be incurred on the exercise and the time required for making the preparations, 16 of the next month would be an appropriate date.
In this connection, all the candidates are requested to cooperate with the election committee for holding free, fair and transparent elections.
The committee will soon hold meetings with the candidates for the posts of president and secretaries to decide the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the polling day.
