BCCI dismisses speculation over Gautam Gambhir’s Test coaching future

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has firmly dismissed speculation surrounding the future of head coach Gautam Gambhir in the Test format, confirming that he will continue in his role as the national team’s red-ball coach, Indian media said on Tuesday.

BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla addressed the reports amid claims that the board had held discussions with former batting great VVS Laxman for the Test coaching position.

Shukla categorically denied the speculation, stating that there was no plan to remove Gambhir or appoint a new head coach.

“I want to make it very clear regarding the speculation circulating in the media about head coach Gautam Gambhir.

The BCCI secretary has also made it clear that there is no plan to remove Gambhir or bring in a new head coach for India,” Shukla said.
