Nepra hearing on raising power tariff on Feb 4

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) will review the recommendations and take a decision on power tariff increase up to Rs1.95 per unit, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
It has been recommended to increase the average price of electricity to Rs16.79 per unit, while subsidy will be given to domestic consumers up to 300 units.
An increase of 48 paisas per unit is proposed for consumers using 300 to 700 units and for consumers using more than 700 units, an increase of two rupees and four paisas has been recommended.
As per details, consumers using electricity from 5pm to 11pm will have to pay an extra Rs2.38 per unit.
While, Rs3.23 increase sought for Time of Day metering (TOD) off peak consumers, Rs4.9 per unit for commercial consumers and 39 paisas per unit for commercial consumers using less than 5 kW of electricity.
It has also been recommended to Nepra about reduction up to Rs1.14 paisas for industrial consumers.
An increase of Rs1.73 is recommended for industrial consumers using 500 kW electricity.
