IMF confirms Pakistan's 2.7% economic growth rate during last FY
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has attested the government’s claim that Pakistan’s economic growth rate during the last financial year (FY) remained 2.7 per cent, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Several people had questioned the government’s claim that the country’s GDP during the last financial year had been recorded at 2.7 per cent.
Giving details in its World Economic Outlook report, July 2025, the Fund said it had initially estimated that Pakistan’s economic growth rate during the last FY remained 2.6 per cent.
However, later it revised it and said that the country’s GDP stood at 2.7 per cent, and not at 2.6 per cent.
The federal government had set the economic growth target for the last FY at 3.6 per cent.
On the other hand, the Fund has estimated that Pakistan’s economic growth rate during the ongoing FY would remain 3.6 per cent, while the federal government has set the target at 4.2 per cent.
