Several villages flooded after River Indus bursts its banks in Khairpur

Crops grown over several acres of land were destroyed while water entered people’s homes in Katcha area after the River Indus burst its banks in Khairpur, forcing people to move to safe locations, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday. 

Villages, including Faiz Muhammad Bando, KT Pir Pagara and Rakh Landhian, were completely submerged under the water due to which land connection between these villages was severed.      

Flood in Shakargarh

Over 30 people stranded at different places were shifted to safe locations due to floods in Shakargarh.

Meanwhile, intermittent rainfall in the city inundated low-lying areas. 

The administration set up five relief camps in different areas.  

Rain emergency declared in twin cities

On the other hand, heavy rain in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad led to a rise in water levels in streams and nullahs, prompting the local administrations to declare a rain emergency. 

90 millimeters of rainfall was recorded in Saidpur area of Islamabad, while the water level in Nullah Lai at Katarian rose to 15 feet while to 11 feet at Gawalmandi.   

Torrential rains were also recorded in different parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), resulting in a deluge in streams and nullahs.

Rain turns weather pleasant in Lahore

Different localities of Lahore, too, received rain due to which heat and humidity subsided to a some extent.

Areas, including Model Town, Johar Town, Green Town, Township, Kot Lakhpat, Jinnah Hospital, Iqbal Town, Nishtar Colony and Chungi Amar Sidhu, received rain. 

More rains forecast 

Meanwhile, the weather department said that rains, accompanied by strong winds, were likely to lash Kashmir, KP, upper and central Punjab, Islamabad, north-eastern Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next 24 hours.

It further said that the rainfall may be heavier at some places in Kashmir, north-east Punjab, Potohar region of Punjab and KP.

However, the weather will remain dry and extremely humid in southern areas of the country.
