Memon says water is Pakistan’s oxygen; no compromise possible

Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has issued a strong statement declaring that Pakistan will not compromise on its water rights, calling water the “oxygen” of the country, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, he warned that if water is forcibly blocked, Pakistan will respond with a severe reaction.

He emphasised that the recent verdict by the international arbitration court upheld Pakistan's stance on the Indus Waters Treaty. “The global court has accepted our position as correct,” Memon said, highlighting the significance of the decision in strengthening Pakistan’s case internationally.

He credited Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for the diplomatic victory, saying, “The credit for this international achievement goes to Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, who presented Pakistan’s case across the globe with conviction.”

On the domestic front, the senior minister stated that the Sindh government is committed to delivering quality healthcare to its citizens. “People from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are coming to Sindh for medical treatment,” he added, showcasing the province’s advancements in health facilities.
