Crackdown against underage drivers launched in Lahore

The traffic police launched a strict crackdown against underage drivers in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Dr Athar Sherazi said that the motorcycle of an underage driver will not be returned until he obtains a valid driving permit.

The CTO said that all vehicles of all those drivers who are between 16 and 18 years old will be impounded.

Dr Athar Sherazi said that the vehicles will be returned after obtaining surety bonds from their parents.

He advised the parents to obtain driving permits for their children whose ages are between 16 and 18 years.

Underage drivers should bring a Smart Card B-Form for obtaining a driving permit. He said that obtaining of driving permit facility is available at 14 locations in the city.

Dr Ather Sherazi said that traffic police adopted a zero-tolerance policy against underage drivers. He said that anyone who is found in violation of the rules will be dealt with as per the law.
